Our little boy at 2 months
10lbs 11oz (8th percentile); 21.5 inches (40th percentile)
I also got to celebrate my first Mother's Day with my wonderful family. We also had our baby dedication at church on Mother's Day
I also bought Cameron a hat, but it's a little big still.
Max came to join us after his golf game.
Happy boy likes sitting up by himself.
....and has also discovered the T.V.
I have been very blessed that I did not have to go back to work after Cameron was born. My last day was February 29, and I was able to take my 12 weeks of FMLA, which ran into summer, so I will get 5 months off. Max and I have spent A LOT of time talking, praying, and looking at finances to help us decide what I do next year in terms of work. I was SO torn on what to do. Many co-workers, administrators, and friends asked me what my plans were for the next year, and I felt bad not really knowing what I wanted to do. Max told me that I did not have to work unless I really wanted to. I just finished my third year of teaching so I was going to get tenure if I signed my contract again, and in a county where the budget is being cut and positions are being cut, I was very hesitant not to sign my contract. I also took into consideration where I would want my kids to go to school when they are school aged, and we both think the county I work in is better than the county we live in. I work in a very difficult class and spend a lot of time after school working, and even weekends, so I didn't feel that I could continue to teach in my classroom and be a good mother to Cameron. Max and I decided that I would try to find a part-time teaching position, and if nothing came open, then I would resign and substitute, and trust God that when the time is right he would open the doors for me.
This past year there was a part-time position at my current school that I really wanted. I emailed our special education director and told him what I was thinking. He said that he would not be filling the position at my school, but there was a part-time position available at an elementary school that is actually about 20 minutes from my house (instead of the 30-45 that I currently drive). He said he would let the principal know about me and that I was interested in the position. I was very excited about this opportunity and had complete peace about it. We decided that I would apply and interview for the position, and if offered, I would accept it. If not, we felt that it would be God telling us that I was supposed to stay home.
I applied and interviewed for the position, and talked to my current principal about my decision. It was a very bitter-sweet discussion with my principal, but she wished me nothing but the best.
I got a phone call from the principal at the school I interviewed at, and I was offered the job. I was so ecstatic. So next year, I will be teaching part-time at Robert J. Burch Elementary. GO BEARS!!!
So with a move to a new school, it meant that it was time to pack up my current classroom. So Cameron and I headed up to school to begin the long process.
Sweet boy was not much help : )
Some of my stuff....
......and more.....
.....and more.
It is mind boggling how much stuff I have accumulated over the 3 years.
We also celebrated Ya-Ya's (my mom) birthday on May 21st.
We also took Cameron to the lake house over Memorial Day. It was the first time Cameron spent the night away from our house, and he did GREAT.
